Process
A proprietary refining sequence that upgrades extra-heavy crude into lighter hydrocarbon streams, with heavy residues managed on site.
About Kalvera · Houston, Texas
Kalvera’s technology has been proven in a large-scale industrial deployment. Our team brings decades of refining, process-engineering and project-delivery experience. We work alongside producers, refiners and engineering firms from feasibility through start-up.
The question was never whether heavy oil could be upgraded. It was whether it could be done economically, at the field.
Kalvera set out to answer one commercial question: could the hardest barrels be upgraded economically, close to where they are produced? Each stage of our history built on the last.
Era I · Foundations
Applied refining research focused on the heaviest, hardest-to-move crudes and the economics around them.
Era II · Invention
The KHU process was developed and patented, including its specialized catalysts and purpose-built reactor technology.
Era III · Proof
The technology was proven at industrial scale, under real operating conditions.
Era IV · Platform
The process was engineered into transportable modules, manufactured, assembled and tested in the USA.
Era V · Today
Kalvera is now introducing the KHU modular platform to producers, refiners and engineering firms in heavy-oil and refining markets worldwide.
One patented process brings together a proprietary refining sequence, specialized catalysts and purpose-built reactor technology, delivered in transportable modules. Together they convert extra-heavy crude into lighter, more marketable streams.

Specialized catalysts that break heavy molecules into lighter fractions. Formulations are proprietary and are not disclosed.
A purpose-built reactor designed for the KHU process and for deployment inside transportable modules. Internal design is confidential.
Illustrative. Proprietary engineering details, catalyst formulations and reactor design are not shown.
The KHU process has already been deployed in a large-scale industrial environment. That experience shapes how we design, build and support every modular unit: what works in operation, what needs margin, and what an operator needs from a technology partner.
Because our clients’ crude, sites and economics are commercially sensitive, we describe this work qualitatively here and share details with qualified parties under NDA.
Kalvera brings the core disciplines in-house and stays involved from feasibility through operations, leading where the technology is ours and supporting our partners’ teams elsewhere.

VP Commercial Development
Works with producers, refiners and EPCs to shape viable projects.
Two decades in upstream and midstream commercial roles, structuring crude marketing, logistics and project agreements across several heavy-oil regions.
Chief Financial Officer
Leads finance, project economics and investor relations.
Many years in energy finance and capital projects, with a focus on project economics, financing structures and disciplined growth for technology companies.

Houston puts Kalvera at the center of the US refining, engineering and fabrication industries, close to the US fabrication and engineering partners who help deliver KHU projects.
Kalvera is building a technology platform, not a single plant. One patented process serves two markets, and capacity is added train by train, so capital can follow production.
